SKKU: Week 3, Day 6 (National Museum & Coex Mall)

Relatively long post today since I went to places and spent money.

Started off the Saturday afternoon (I woke up at around 10:30AM) with some delicious milksand sandwiches, which are basically fresh cream sandwiches.

Got on a subway and headed to the National Museum of Korea.

Here's the set of escalators we eventually took.

There's a set of moving walkways underground heading towards the museum.

But we were cool kids so we went above ground (to look for food places) and found some fun walkways.

It led us to a shallow pool and bridge.

But eventually led us back to the museum.

 It looked small at first...

It's really beautiful on the outside.

Noah taking a picture of me taking a picture.

Doves!

Glen caught me :c

 We found a restaurant--

And this is the place we were going to eat until we found out that appetizers were around 20000 a plate.

We went to the front entrance of the museum.

It was so huge.

The exhibit we were going to go to.

But food first!

 Some fake people watching us.

I got a bulgogi burger, but to be honest I think I prefer BurgerTex back in Austin a lot more.

I greatly enjoyed the architecture and the lighting in this place.

Blurry but still good!

 Cute little faces.

Seriously the good lighting + good architecture nnghhh

Found some of the missing letters funny.

Sneakily took a picture of this little girl bathed in light.

 Ryan took the wheel.

Decided to become the little girl.

 I am decidedly more awkward.

After this, we went outside to get some snacks and coffee.

Melon & vanilla ice cream Joy wanted.

After this, we hopped onto the subway and headed over to COEX Mall in Gangdam area.

The sight that greeted us out of the subway.

Really cute stores here. I wanted to get headbows, but they were around 17000-19000 no thanks.

There's a movie theater in here.

We didn't actually go inside because ticket prices were around 20000원.

Got free Psy socks after completing a survey for a graduate student's thesis about the influx of  tourists after Psy's Gangdam Style hit.

Tourist Glen.

We all split up to explore and Joy and I ended up in parts that were not COEX at all and into casinos and dead ends and staircases leading outdoors. I dragged her into skincare shops like TONYMOLY (although there is a store right near campus I just have never went in because usually I only pass by it on the way to the subway stop.) and SKIN FOOD. I was so excited for SKIN FOOD because I've heard a lot of good things about it. Almost walked into LUSH before I remembered I'm here in Korea to try Korean things.

Samsung was having their concert promo for their new Galaxy Note (which I really want after seeing some demos of people drawing on it.)

Here I am with Thor and Captain America--

Some of the staff were drawing people on their Galaxy Notes.

After this, we were hungry so we ended up going into a restaurant directly outside of COEX after finding out how pricey some of the choices we had picked were. Like a 75000 buffet.

I do not regret this at all, it was so good. Fried pork cutlet with a fried egg on top of rice with sauce poured over it. I ate all of it. I was so full.

Here was Ryan's impressive order.

We walked a bit around outside.

I don't know what this is, but Glen called it a space egg. There's like this little doorway thing that Glen went into and exclaimed "Oh you can see up--" so I rushed in thinking it was something cool and he ended it with "nothing because it's so dark." I ended up laughing over that a bit, not sure why. Probably because I was so happy and full.

I don't know what this was either.

These towers had scrolling marquees.

Glass ceiling where the Samsung demonstration was.

Noah really really wanted shaved ice, so we got some. I picked the ice cream crepe because that's what I wanted. It was so good but we went back to Sadang via subway, and then took a direct bus to SKKU. I was pretty much throwing up a little in my mouth after all the food I ate. Bad feelings, but I don't know if I have any regrets.

Here's my haul from SKIN FOOD and TONYMOLY today along with a pamphlet for the museum. I bought Black Sugar Mask Wash-Off since I heard many good things about it. At first I had picked up the 100g can which was around 7700, but the salesperson handed me a package that combined one of their new products (Black Sugar Perfect First Serum) for 11700 with a 200g can (100g is around 14-16$ in the US I think). Also got a Green Tea Bubble Cleansing Foam to wash my oily face with since my travel size bar of Clinque soap won't last me for very long. Got TONYMOLY's Cat Wink Clear Pact for setting my MISSHA BB Cream and because I also heard good things about it (also the packaging is really cute, kill me now.) I'll definitely explore the TONYMOLY near SKKU later.

Also, I used the Green Tea Wash, Black Sugar Serum and Mask and wow my face feels very clean and smooth (and bright! though it could be because Susanna cleaned the restroom and it's been really sparkly) right now. The Mask smells like Coca-Cola and lemons which apparently means iced tea to me. I like the smell, the texture is a bit thick and it looks awful after I put it on, but I really love how smooth my face feels.
Happy with my purchases today (I don't think I'll buy more makeup or face products the rest of the semester ), until tomorrow where I'll need to study and actually do some work!
