SKKU: Week 3, Day 5

Went out and about to explore today, and to buy clothes for me because it was either buy clothes or keep on doing laundry every week.

Woke up late today (10:30AM) because it's Friday, why not! Three-day weekends are so good.

Lunch today was black sauce and rice that I had like two days ago. Very filling.

I wanted a picture of all three of us in our lettermans, but...

 And then I started laughing...

Finally we got a picture where we're all facing the camera. All our lettermans have very slight differences (aside from our names on our sleeves). Joy's letterman is nearly identical to mine except it's dark blue instead of dark gray (and hers also has a number). Ryan's letterman has "University of Texas at Austin" and a number while mine says "Electrical & Computer Engineering" but it's the same for everything else.

We went to Namdaemoon, but most of the clothing here is geared towards tourists and older women.

A lot of people looked at what university we were from and then started talking to Ryan happily.

I think I bought one shirt here for 5000원.

Before heading out to Myeongdong, Ryan spotted this sausage place. Got free soup.

Tried a bit, it was kind of bland. I'm pretty sure it's blood sausage stuffed with noodles, and pig liver and lung on the side. It's not to my taste so Joy and I went to go get some hotteok instead (because I love sweet things.)

Watching the man make hotteok.

This was only 1000원! And so good! It's like a doughy pancake with syrup and nuts on the inside instead of out. I wish I got two, to be honest. We parted ways with Ryan because he had football practice at Seoul campus.

Seoul Tower in the distance while heading to Myeongdong.

Where we are heading.

 Where we came from.

Joy and I went down to a shopping center before the subway station. We bought some clothing here, and Joy ended up buying some too even though I was the one who wanted to go shopping haha.

There was a store selling little custard dough things, and that's like everything I love.

Really unique machinery for churning these little puppies out.

3000원 for a small bag.

I think Koreans like corn.

We ended up giving some to a nice vendor lady who then gave us a discount for one of Joy's sweaters.  After we were done with this place, we went to Uniqlo since I wanted to get some tank tops since most of the clothing I got was meant to be layered. I bought some thermal leggings too, figuring I could just use them as tights later on because they're pretty thin.

And then we rushed back to get on the subway since I had a meeting at 7PM. We really didn't get to explore all of the Myeongdong (or even reach a place where there were streets lined with shops) so definitely going back to Myeongdong another day.  We reached Sungkyunkwan Station at around 6:55PM but then I couldn't find my T-Money card (which only had around 1600 in it so I'm not that sad) which I think I lost on the subway which led to a conversation with the security guard and me barely catching my club members trailing out of the meeting place for dinner at 7:15PM.

We ended up at dak galbi looking place, except with cheese (something my stomach protests at loudly now that I'm back in my dorm.)

And rice and seaweed gets added to it too, just like dak galbi. It was good! Also free since I am a new member. And also I think I made a friend despite language barriers, so I'm very happy.

I left with Luis, another exchange student who also joined the same club, and I managed to convince him to walk north a bit so I could try my hand at a crane game for 뿅뿅또끼 plushies.

After around 2000원, I got this sucker on the 1st try of the third 1000원 bill.

And then I got him a matching friend on the 2nd try! The 3rd and 4th tries I didn't get anything, but I think these two for around 3000원 was a good deal. This is like highlight of my day, I have never won anything from a crane game before.

There was a point during this where the claw had grabbed the bunny by the little sucker it has attached on the back (I think it's for attaching to glass car windows or something) and it had seriously lifted it up before the bottom of the bunny hit the wall of the basket and fell back down. I had angrily put down the last bill at that point, because this game is so unfair.

Here are the shirts I got! I found very few normal shirts to be honest (plaid) and the rest are like shirts to go over tank tops or bras if you're very risky and very unafraid of the cold. The most expensive was my thermal leggings (19900원) while each shirt was less than 8000원 each. Good night everyone, until next time!
