It's another lazy day at Suwon, and the nice weather we had yesterday quickly veered back into "freezing my nose off" territory.
Woke up in time for lunch, and I managed to wrangle Glen into a Tours les Jours run with me in a fit of melancholy because JGL is at SxSW right now and I am not.
We decided to eat lunch at the dorm cafeteria first before heading over. Some sort of pork cutlet (though the preview meal had a lot more meat on it) with seaweed, eggs, mayo, and a sweet sauce. Cold noodles, and a warm soup, as well as plum juice were on the menu today.
Glen got a cake that grew more and more delicious with every bite.
I got a tapioca donut stick and custard bread. I don't know what I expected out of that donut stick (maybe tapioca balls in the middle?) but it was just a very chewy churro.
Afterwards, we split ways so Glen could do homework and I could do nothing productive (aka lay on my bed and pass out.) Noah suggested going to a sauna/bathhouse which I agreed since I wanted to try and also because I wanted a Korean body scrub, and then we set off at 5pm. We went to the one in Issue 9, on the 8th floor.
Here is my number and key. It was a very auspicious number.
My experience at the bathhouse was largely confusing. I kind of wish I had a buddy there with me, but since it was divided by gender I was kind of left to try to figure out things for myself. I had set my towels down to sit in a hot tub and I'm pretty sure they had been taken by a very aggressive looking old lady. Thankfully there was a towel in my locker, but for now I'm not really thinking about if it had been used or not. I also think I used a waterfall massage thing in an improper (maybe dangerous since I was kind of just letting it hit my back because it felt good?) way because another old lady shouted (though I couldn't hear since the noise levels in there were off the chart) at me so I casually left in a bewildered manner. Sometimes I really wish it was obvious I didn't know how to speak or understand Korean.
I set up an appointment to get a full body scrub, and I had to dawdle around for an hour before I was called.
An older lady (naked sans panties) poured warm water over me and scrubbed away at my skin with loofa mitts to get rid of all my dead skin. Let's just say it was a very intimate experience because she went over every inch of my skin. It was nice experience, though maybe people with more sensitive skin might find it rough. After 2 full body scrubs, she rubbed oil all over me, and put something on my face, wiped it off with a steamed towel, and then applied some sort of green tea mask/cleanser before sending me on my way. I had so much dead skin though since this was my first time doing this (I feel bad for the lady), I definitely feel softer. It was a 17,000원 procedure, which was not that bad for the amount of time; definitely not a once-a-week thing though. I washed off the green tea mask/cleanser awkwardly, dried myself off with my one lonely towel, and then went outside to discover that around 2.5 hours had passed since leaving the dorm.
Which meant dinner time had come and gone.
So here's my 1,700원 dinner (not including the amount of Binch cookies I will consume) which I forgot to get utensils for.
I think I'l start compiling Mon-Thurs entries together since they're rather boring due to classes (maybe Sundays too). Later everyone!
