Joy and I on our way to Gimpo airport to fly off to Jeju island! I've read that it's been called the "Hawaii" of Korea. Perfect for a vacation after the Samsung internship.
We got there too early so we chilled in front of the gate for an hour or so.
We took the 500 bus to get to our hostel, YOU&I.
It was a 4-bed dorm styled room.
We got to Jeju in the late afternoon so we started planning where to go for the next three days.
But first Windter and I started playing around with wooden blocks.
Unfortunately it became a horribly long game of Jenga, where nobody won.
The title picture!
Figuring out a place to eat. We all wanted to try Jeju's specialty, black pork samgyeopsal.
We ate at this restaurant near our hostel.
I think I liked the 2nd course of meat afterwards, which was rib meat. Black pork ogyeopsal (5-layer meat) was pretty much just thicker and tougher samgyeopsal (3-layer meat).
We got Baskin Robbins afterwards. Man I miss dessert after dinner.
Wearing my hat too much haha.
For the first morning of Jeju vacation, we set out to gear ourselves with some snacks.
I wanted this so badly.
Official Day 1 in Jeju:
The sun was super bright that day.
Geared for more water.
We started off by going to the lava plume cave and the nearby maze park.
So much gorgeous nature!
We took a bus, got off at a close bus stop, and started walking there.
This maze park is famous for all the cats they have.
Bright and early morning was cool (but it was quickly going to become scorching hot).
Random lotto team with Ryan! We raced against Windter and Joy.
If you can look at it closely, we traced the route we followed. Contrary to what I thought, the white lines are the walls, not the actual paths.
Taking pictures at the end.
Got some prickly pear ice cream.
Some of the cats manning the entrance.
Then we walked back to the lava plume cave!
As soon as we walked down the stairs, a blast of cool air came at us like precious precious a/c. It was probably only around 90 F outside, but that sun burnt.
Bad blurry low-lighting camera photos.
Accidental hip shots.
Dude it was so cold in here.
We reached the end! So that means we had to turn around and walk all the way back. At this point I regretted my short-sleeved shirt and shorts.
All this temperature change wasn't good for my lens.
We ate afterwards.
Also there was this really fat bee!
Please see the attached video on how it was too fat for the flowers.
The sky was so clear today.
I won't ever get over how gorgeous Jeju was.
Finally got a chance to tandem bike!
We all rented bikes to bike around Udo. Like $15 an hour I think?
So gorgeous but so hot.
I really like this shot of Windter haha.
These cool tide pools were teeming with life.
We went hiking to see the view from Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak!
It looks gorgeous, but little did we know we would soon be in hell.
Rest stop!
And we finally reached the top.
I was so tired.
I tried to smile but I was too exhausted and the sun was too hot.
The way down was faster.
Delicious raspa afterwards.
Took a taxi to a folk village.
And this lady gave us a tour for free.
Kimbab after this long day!
